Urban archery is a deer management strategy that not only helps control the number of deer within a municipality but also contributes to the overall health of the deer herd in an area.

Municipalities throughout the State of North Carolina have worked with the North Carolina Wildlife Commission to develop local ordinances that work in conjunction with current North Carolina hunting regulations. Urban Archery Season is set to begin January 11, 2025 and runs through February 16, 2025.

One question that is often asked is if the city provides maps identifying eligible areas to hunt. The City does not maintain or provide maps that identify areas that meet the acreage requirements of the ordinance. It is the responsibility of the individual hunter to not only identify these areas but also have written consent of the property owner.
