Five new officers have joined the Kannapolis Police Department. The officers have completed their basic law enforcement training at Rowan Cabarrus Community College and are now starting their field training.

The new officers are: Jerod Barnes, Chase Crowe, Cody Franklin, Zachary Johnson and Brandon Moore. As part of their field training each officer is assigned to two experienced Kannapolis Police Officers in the patrol division for the next five months.

Jerod Barnes is a graduate of West Davidson High School and Saint Leo University with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology. Jared was a Sonar Technician/Supervisor in the United States Navy prior to joining the police department.

He is married to Courtney and they have a daughter, Aubrey, and a son, Colton. Jerod is the son of Ronald and Sharon Williams Barnes of Lexington, NC.

Chase Crowe is a graduate of Crowe Christian Academy and studied Criminal Justice at Rowan Cabarrus Community College. Prior to joining the Kannapolis Police Department, Chase was employed by Aldi as a forklift operator

He is married to Jessica and they have a son, Owen. Chase is the son of Todd and Kimberly Crowe of Concord.

Cody Franklin - Prior to joining the Kannapolis Police Department, Cody was an assistant manager at Auto Bell Carwash. He is a graduate of Concord High School and studied Criminal Justice at Rowan Cabarrus Community College and Western Carolina University.
Cody is the son of Robert and Sandra Smith Franklin of Concord.

Zachary Johnson - Prior to joining the Kannapolis Police Department, Zac was the Warehouse Manager for Troutman’s Bar-B-Que. He is a graduate of Concord High School and studied Criminal Justice, Religion and Automotive at Rowan Cabarrus Community College. Zac is the son of William Johnson and Terrie McCarn Johnson of Concord.

Brandon is a graduate of West Davidson High School and UNC-Charlotte with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. Brandon was a Commercial Development Portfolio Manager for U.S. Bank before deciding to change careers and join the police department.

He is married to Eboni, and they have a son, Aiden. Brandon is the son of Jimmy Lee Moore and Billie Jo Moore, both of Lexington, NC.
