The Kannapolis Police Department welcomes Nijah Armstrong as its newest officer.
She graduated from the Stanly Community College Basic Law Enforcement Training program in December. Officer Armstrong is assigned to Patrol Squad C and is currently completing her required field training.
Officer Armstrong is a graduate of Benjamin Banneker Academic High School in Washington, D.C. She graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. She was previously employed as an exceptional children’s teacher with the Anson County School System.
She is the daughter of Marvin Timmons and Chernique Armstrong. She is engaged to Jeremy Buchanon and has three children: Mekhi, Chase, and Kamari.
