This morning the Kannapolis Police Department participated in the N.C. State Special Olympics Torch Run.
Members of Cabarrus County Sheriff's Office, City of Concord Police Department, Cabarrus Fire Marshal’s Office, Concord Fire, and Cabarrus County EMS ran to the Kannapolis city limits on Cannon Boulevard.
Kannapolis officers and area Special Olympic athletes were then handed the Flame of Hope and ran with it to the Rowan County border. The Torch Run continues across N.C. and will culminate in Raleigh on June 2 when the N.C. Special Olympic Games begin.
Participating from Kannapolis were Tracy Rowland, Capt. Brent Rowland, Kristin Jones, Officers Bryan Crim and Colby Richardson, Sgt. Dale Burris, Capt. Chris Hill and Sgt. Travis Kiser.
