December 24 - 3 p.m. Duke Energy continues to work to restore power which is out due to high winds and fallen trees.  Earlier today 11,000 households in the Kannapolis area were without power.  At this time 2,000 households remain without power. Crews continue to work diligently to make repairs. 

 

December 24 - 10 a.m. 

If you experience any water outages please call 704.920.4444. Most of the calls for no water we are responding to involve frozen household water pipes not City water issues.

Duke Energy anticipates most power should be restored to the Kannapolis area by noon. 

Treat all intersections with non working traffic lights as four way stops.

Customers who experience an outage can report it the following ways:

Visit duke-energy.com on a desktop computer or mobile device. 

Use the Duke Energy mobile app – Download the Duke Energy App from a smartphone via Apple Store or Google Play. Text OUT to 57801 (standard text and data charges may apply).

Call the automated outage-reporting system, at: 800.POWERON (800.769.3766).

Landis Electric Customers should call: 704-857-2411 to report outages.

The Salvation Army of Cabarrus and Stanly Counties, located at 216 Patterson Avenue SE in Concord, will provide a warming center during the following hours:

Saturday, December 24 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Sunday, December 25 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. 

The Salvation Army’s overnight overflow shelter will open each evening listed above to provide additional overnight housing needs for the community.

If you have power keep your phones, flashlights and other necessary items charged in case you do lose power.
