The City’s new City Hall and Police Headquarters will be dedicated on December 14. The first floor of the building has approximately 9,000 square feet that can be rented for conferences, work development sessions, meetings, and other large events. This premier space, The Laureate Center, includes three large meeting rooms, two outside terraces and a gallery. The goal is for the center to showcase City Hall and serve as a one of the economic development drivers for our Downtown Revitalization Plan.

In anticipation of the many people who will use The Laureate Center, City Council has adopted a policy which will ensure the facility is maintained and operated in a professional manner. We are also combining the City’s other meeting space facilities: Cabarrus Bank Building, Rotary Hall, Train Station, Village Park Multi-Purpose Facility and Dale Earnhardt Tribute Site into this policy. The policy outlines the use of the facility, hours of operation, fees, approved caterers and reservation processes.

We are excited that there is already significant interest from companies and organizations in renting the space.

We would like to invite caterers, restaurants and food businesses to apply for approved status which means your business has met all of the requirements necessary to serve food in one of the City’s facilities. We are looking for businesses who can serve everything from refreshments to boxed lunches to full meals. We expect to accommodate events that will need various food options and price points.

We invite food businesses to review the guidelines and apply to be an approved caterer.

Applications are due November 23 at 4 pm and may be submitted to Elizabeth Cox at ecox@kannapolisnc.gov. If you have questions call 704-920-4314.
