Cabarrus County intersection will temporarily close on Monday to be converted to a roundabout, thanks to a $1.1 million contract the N.C. Department of Transportation awarded last year to contractor J.T. Russell & Sons, Inc. of Albemarle.
Contract crews will close the intersection of Old Salisbury-Concord Road at Irish Potato Road for up to eight weeks to allow for roundabout construction.
A marked detour will take drivers along Old Beatty Ford Road, Phaniel Church Road, Sapp Road, Old Salisbury-Concord Road, Lane Street, Turkey Road and Moose Road, returning to Old Beatty Ford Road.
Other lane closures required for the project must occur during non-peak travel times in the mornings and afternoons, and outside major holidays.
