The Kannapolis Police Department held a successful National Night Out event earlier this week. “It was another successful year of promoting collaboration and community between our police officers and our residents,” commented Kannapolis Police Chief Terry Spry.
Many non-profit organizations, community members, Kannapolis Department representatives and police officers gathered in Veterans Park for the evening of fun and fellowship. Police officers handed out backpacks filled with school supplies that were collected over the summer for Kannapolis students, and accepted donations for continued Hurricane Helene relief in Western North Carolina. People were able to enjoy a free hotdog meal, participate in fun activities like yard games and BINGO, and connect with important resource organizations that serve the Kannapolis community.
National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes a true sense of community and provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances. The goal of National Night Out is to have police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safe and caring places to live.
