All City of Kannapolis offices will be closed on Tuesday, January 1, 2019 in observance of the New Year’s holiday. There will be no delay in garbage or recycling collection. There will be no yard waste collection on New Year’s Day. Yard waste collection will resume on Wednesday, January 2, on a normal schedule for the rest of the week. And this year we invite you to bring your dog along and they can earn prizes as well. Route distances are designated by different colors. Two recent financial reports point to the positive financial health of the City of Kannapolis. A recent audit report of the City of Kannapolis’ finances shows the City is financially sound and therefore received a “clean” or “unmodified” opinion. The City of Kannapolis and the North Carolina Rail Division have collaborated to complete improvements at the Kannapolis Train Station on Main Street. Wayfinding and parking signage, awnings, planters with trees and a beautiful clock have been added to the train station facility. It was a cold but beautiful night for the 80th Annual Cannon Pharmacy Kannapolis Christmas Parade. With over 80 entries the parade wound its way down Main Street as hundreds enjoyed holiday music by marching bands and festive floats. A $17 million spec building is nearing completion in Kannapolis. The building is located on Kannapolis Parkway near Stewart-Haas Racing and the intersection of N.C. 73. It is also in close proximity to the new Kannapolis Amazon Distribution Facility. Triliad Development, Inc., a developer from California, is constructing the facility. Police officials are advising you to stay off the roads as the weather conditions are making travel very hazardous. Primary roads are getting covered with a new layer of snow and secondary roads are in poor condition. Forecasts for tonight and tomorrow morning indicate roads will be very icy tonight.
