Tuesday evening, the City of Kannapolis and Carolinas Healthcare System honored the 2017 Run Kannapolis participants during a special ceremony. The event also honored Loop the Loop participants. This year 32 people completed all eight of the 5K Run Kannapolis events and over 400 people participated in this year’s first ever Loop the Loop Challenge. On Monday, January 22, the Kannapolis City Council unanimously voted to approve a Memorandum of Understanding with Corporate Realty, Inc. The firm has said they would like to invest approximately $300 million in new construction and redevelopment of properties in downtown Kannapolis. On Tuesday January 16th the Kannapolis Fire Department welcomed 12 new firefighters to its ranks. The new recruits completed four months of fire, rescue and medical training prior to officially joining the department. A badge pinning ceremony was conducted at Kannapolis City Hall recognizing their achievement. 4: 30 p.m., January 18: Mother Nature is helping us get the roads cleared this afternoon. Once the temperatures rose, the salt activated, and melting began. Public Work crews are plowing the resulting slush. Most major roadways are clear and numerous secondary roads are beginning to melt.
