The City of Kannapolis is accepting upset bids for property on Oak Avenue. The city-owned property includes 230, 234, 242, 246 and 250 Oak Avenue. The properties currently have two tenants, including Pizza Hut, and is suitable for office and commercial space. The City of Kannapolis, the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers and Old Armor Beer Company are sponsoring a food drive for Cabarrus and Rowan County veterans who are in need. Drop off your canned food items, in the carts at Kannapolis City Hall, 401 Laureate Way; at the ticket office at Atrium Health Ballpark or at Old Armor Beer Company by November 23, 2020. Early voting in Rowan County began on Thursday, October 15 and will continue until Saturday, October 31. Due to COVID-19, voters are encouraged to wear a mask and maintain social distance. Each voter will be provided with a pen and hand sanitizer. Voting booths will be sanitized after each voter. The Kannapolis Police Department recently presented awards to four members of the department. Officers Brandon Crowe and Gasper Ruiz, Jr. received Police Stars, the second highest honor any officer can receive. The City of Kannapolis Parks and Recreation Department has opened registration for Youth Basketball for children 3-15 years old. Registration closes November 30. The registration fee is $40 for Kannapolis residents and $60 for non-residents, this includes the cost of uniforms, practices and games. Participants are required to have proper athletic shoes. Cabarrus County Board of Elections has changed the lineup of planned early voting locations. The State Board approved four locations in early September. When a scheduling conflict got in the way of approved expanded hours, officials replaced the Charlotte Motor Speedway site with Embassy Suites (5400 John Q.
