The Kannapolis Farmers Market will open for the 2023 season this Thursday, May 4. The market will be held every Thursday, 4-7 p.m. at the corner of Vance St. and Dale Earnhardt Blvd. The market continues through September. Returning and new vendors offer a wide variety of fresh, local produce, as well as meat, eggs, baked goods, crafts, and prepared foods. Over the next few days, the Wetland Trail at Vietnam Veterans Park (760 Orphanage Road, Concord) will be closed for the removal of more than 50 dead ash trees. As the trees die from infestation by emerald ash borers (small beetles that feed on the tissues beneath the bark), they become prone to break in high winds. City of Kannapolis offices will be closed Friday, April 7, 2023, in observance of the Easter Holiday. Offices will reopen on Monday, April 10. Garbage and recycling services will operate on a regular schedule. There will be no yard waste collection on Friday. It will be collected on a regular schedule the following week.
