The Kannapolis Memorial Day 2023 Ceremony will be held in Veterans Park at 12 p.m. on Monday, May 29th. The ceremony will include remarks from guest speaker Rear Admiral Miriam Lafferty of the U.S. Coast Guard. Veterans Park is located at 119 N. Main Street. All City of Kannapolis offices will be closed for business on Monday, May 29, in observance of the Memorial Day holiday. Offices will reopen at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, May 30. There will be no disruption in garbage and recycling collection service, however, there will be no yard debris collection on Monday. The Kannapolis Fire Department is offering non-certified CPR classes in June. Each class is only two hours and free to the public. Kannapolis Fire’s goal is to train 200 people in our community to do CPR in 2023. Two classes will be offered: 3:30-5:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 3 and 3:30-5:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 24. The Kannapolis Police Department recently held its annual police awards ceremony. Two members of the Kannapolis Police Department were honored with the most prestigious awards given by the department. Officer Norman Hill was presented with the Roger Dale Carter Memorial Service Award, given in memory of Kannapolis Police Officer Carter, who died in the line of duty on December 31, 1993.
