Drivers taking I-85 North to Dale Earnhardt Boulevard (exit 60A) will notice a change that took effect overnight, as part of the I-85 widening project in Cabarrus County. The former exit configuration allowed left and right turns to either Dale Earnhardt Boulevard or Copperfield Boulevard. As work continues on the Interstate 85 widening project, N.C. Department of Transportation contract crews will temporarily close a portion of Winecoff School Road to complete roadwork at Tremont Avenue NW. The closure will be in place at 9 a.m. Monday, July 13. The Kannapolis City Council approved the Fiscal Year 2021 budget Monday evening. The budget is $80,523,452 and includes all seven operating funds of the City. The budget includes no property tax increase and no increases in utility fees. A portion of West Avenue and Oak Avenue, will be closed from June 22 to June 29, as work is completed on pedestrian crosswalks. West Avenue, from the intersection of Vance Avenue to the roundabout at West B Street, will be closed to vehicle traffic during this time.
