The collection of white goods (appliances) and electronic waste will resume today, May 11. These services were suspended in March due to COVID-19 when Waste Management instituted stricter safety protocols for its employees. The City of Kannapolis has extended its application deadline for non-profits with programs that would qualify for its 2020-2021 Community Development Block Grant fund allocation. Funds are designated for activities that benefit low and moderate income residents in the city. With the Jiggy with the Piggy Festival cancelled this year, the City of Kannapolis hosted a virtual Jiggy with the Piggy last weekend. Elected officials with Cabarrus County, the cities of Concord and Kannapolis, and the towns of Harrisburg, Midland and Mt. Pleasant announced the local Stay-at-Home Proclamation will expire on April 29 at 5 p.m. with no extension. The Kannapolis Police Department announces the promotion of both Christopher Hill and Brent Rowland to the position of lieutenant and Alex Quigley to the position of sergeant.   Lt.
