We offer our deepest condolences to the family of Former Kannapolis Fire Chief Rick Barnhardt. Chief Barnhardt passed away today at his home of natural causes. He retired from the department in March 2020 after a long tenure with the Kannapolis Fire Department. Rick had been with the Kannapolis Fire Department for 30 years. The Kannapolis City Council’s goal to attract private investment in the downtown continues to progress with the sale of two more parcels of property. At their regularly scheduled meeting Monday night, the City Council approved the sale of 230, 234, 242, 246 and 250 Oak Avenue (Block 7) to Oak Avenue Partners, LLC. All City of Kannapolis offices will be closed on Thursday, November 26, and Friday, November 27, in observance of the Thanksgiving Day holiday. Kannapolis, N.C. – The City of Kannapolis continues to see a trend of positive growth in both residential and commercial development as a result of the Kannapolis City Council’s emphasis on strategic economic development policies and investments.
