Kannapolis employees who completed the Kannapolis 101 Academy were recently recognized by the Kannapolis City Council. The employees completed the eight-week program this fall. The academy included visiting city departments, meeting staff and getting a behind the scenes look at the services and function of the City. The City of Kannapolis invites elementary-aged children to participate in a “Name the Truck” contest to brand the Environmental Services Department’s Street Sweeper and Leaf Vaccuum vehicles. Leaf vacuums are in our neighborhoods every Fall cleaning up leaves, and Street Sweepers are trucks we use daily to keep our city streets clean. The City of Kannapolis Parks and Recreation Department will open registration for Youth Flag Football on June 14. Registration will close July 31. Children must be between the ages of 5-15 to participate. The registration fee is $40 for Kannapolis residents and $60 for non-residents, which includes the cost of uniforms, practices, and games. The Kannapolis Memorial Day 2023 Ceremony will be held in Veterans Park at 12 p.m. on Monday, May 29th. The ceremony will include remarks from guest speaker Rear Admiral Miriam Lafferty of the U.S. Coast Guard. Veterans Park is located at 119 N. Main Street.
