N.C. Department of Transportation contract crews will soon start building a roundabout at the intersection of N.C. 3 and Odell School Road, west of Kannapolis. The $990,317 project was awarded last month to NJR Group, Inc. out of Albemarle.   The project has a floating start date, meaning work can commence between July 11 – Sept. 6. The Kannapolis City Council has approved the Fiscal Year 2023 budget. The total budget is $94,916,039 and includes all six operating funds of the City. The Kannapolis City Council has approved the rewrite of the Kannapolis Development Ordinance (KDO). The ordinance was first approved by the City in 2000. The City, as well as development, has changed during the last 22 years. The Kannapolis Police Department and the Kannapolis Youth Council are spearheading a school supply collection campaign for local students.   We invite you to donate school supplies for children in kindergarten thru 12th grade. Please bring your donations and drop by them off in the lobby of the Kannapolis City Hall & Police Department located at 401 Laureate Way.   Donations will be accepted until July 31.
