All City of Kannapolis offices will be closed on Friday, January 1, 2021, in observance of the New Year’s holiday. Garbage and recycling collection will operate on a regular schedule. However, there will be no yard waste collection for Friday’s route this week. We offer our deepest condolences to the family of Former Kannapolis Fire Chief Rick Barnhardt. Chief Barnhardt passed away today at his home of natural causes. He retired from the department in March 2020 after a long tenure with the Kannapolis Fire Department. Rick had been with the Kannapolis Fire Department for 30 years. The Kannapolis City Council’s goal to attract private investment in the downtown continues to progress with the sale of two more parcels of property.
