The City of Kannapolis receives funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for community and economic development activities.
CDBG Program
Under HUD’s Community Development Block Group (CDBG) program, Kannapolis is an entitlement community and receives an annual allocation for its community development program to benefit low-and moderate-income persons and to prevent or eliminate blight and slums. HOME Program
The City of Kannapolis is part of the Cabarrus/Iredell/Rowan Housing Consortium, of which the City of Concord is the lead entity. Through the Consortium, Kannapolis is allocated funds from the HUD Housing Investment Partnership (HOME) program to create affordable housing units for low and moderate-income residents.More information about the Kannapolis HOME program is under the Forms & Documents section. Community Service Grants
The City of Kannapolis sets aside a portion of its Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) allocation from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for public service grants. These are small grants provided to non-profit organizations to fund activities that benefit low and moderate income (LMI) residents of the city.
Eligible public service activities include, but are not limited to, programs concerned with housing, employment, crime prevention, child care, health care, drug abuse prevention, education, mental health, welfare, or recreation.
